LIVE! from One Mission Society

Let’s talk about OMS Live!

I haven’t spoken much about this event before now because, quite honestly, I didn’t know much about it. It’s been in the planning stages for a while, but I don’t have much to do with event planning. I know that this is a big part of our 125 by 125 efforts - recruiting 125 new missionaries by the 125th anniversary of One Mission Society in 2026.

But it’s not just for those interested in being missionaries. It’s for people who want to know more about missions in general.

I am generally of the belief that all Christians are also missionaries. We take the Gospel with us wherever we go. But I’m not sure how many of us would know what to do if someone asked us about our faith. Naturally, I would first point you to the Train & Multiply booklets like “Sow the Good Seed” and “Tell Your Story.” But my second suggestion would be to come to OMS Live! and attend the breakout session on sharing your testimony.

If you want to hear missionary stories, I would first set up a lunch or coffee meeting with you so I can tell you my own stories and those of my colleagues. But your second option would be to come to OMS Live! and attend the general sessions to hear from the missionaries themselves.

Honestly, I could go through each element of OMS Live! and follow my cute pattern of first interacting with me personally, whether it be with one of my side jobs of creating ESL content (yes, I do that!) or reading more Train & Multiply booklets or attending a training event. But really, if you just come to OMS Live!, you’ll hear a lot of these things yourself, and you’ll also see me! I’ll be helping out with setup and tear down, but I’m also going to be sitting in on the sessions.

The event is free, and you won’t even have to go downtown. Lifepoint Church is a lovely place on the southeast side of Indianapolis, easily accessible via I-65. Or you can take backroads like I do. I hate interstates. Sure, they are convenient. But they are boring.

Anyway, I hope you’ll consider joining us in September. You can follow this link for more information. Or you can contact me for more info.
