Let Me Sum Up: The We-Wu for September 16-27, 2024
We need to cover a lot of territory today. I’ll try to make it coherent. Possibly chronological, but probably more topical. Or just in whatever order my brain brings it up. ADD makes life more interesting, right? (Not that I’ve ever been officially diagnosed. But I don’t have another explanation other than insanity, and we’re just going to ignore that as a possibility.)
But seriously. Lots of ground to cover. We might have to Inigo Montoya some of this. I’ll try to do it all justice, but I’m seriously bushed. More on that later.
Okay, so one thing I forgot to tell you all from the previous week - I have new business cards! They are more for the website than my work with OMS, but my work with OMS is a big part of what I talk about, so I figure it all comes out in the wash.
Of course, I only employ the most technical methods in designing.
Please don't comment on my desk.
Yes, nothing but the best for me!
Also, I discovered this beauty as I left work one day.
We're not really sure how it happened. Fortunately, it was just the outer glass.
I think we’re up to last week now. So, like the woman that I am, I must give you backstory. Many moons ago, when I was first seeking ideas about how to make more connections with people for support or my side jobs, I was introduced to Aspire Johnson County. It is an organization that helps people network in the area.
I think that’s all the backstory. Anyway, they do a Coffee Connection every month at different companies around the county, and OMS was able to host in September. So, last Tuesday, I rolled out of bed bright and early and headed over to the office to help escort people to the event. Did I make a lot of connections? No, not really. But I still think it was a valuable event even if we just got OMS’ name out to more people. Most of the people I talked to had no idea what our building actually contained, so just that name recognition is worth quite a bit. Plus, the more events I go to, the more people will remember where I work and hopefully will have a good association.
Okay, so I think we’re now up to the Big Trip. (Yes, it must be capitalized.)
Last week, Jessica T., Sarah B., Lydia G., and I took a very quick trip into Butler, Pennsylvania, to visit the former President and First Lady.
Of OMS.
We have been planning this trip for months. It has taken on many forms, but it ended up as kind of a speed run. We drove out on Thursday. We had a pit stop for lunch in Findlay, Ohio, to visit some other former OMS folks. I had a swan cream puff. It was delicious.
We spent Friday and Saturday with the Pres and FL, mostly watching “The Chosen,” going for walks, chatting, playing games, going to the site of the first assassination attempt (for a craft show, but still), and eating an absurd amount of food.
We came back Sunday after church and made it into town before dark. I spent most of Monday sleeping and decompressing. Fortunately, this week has largely been lowkey - lots of file transfers and responding to emails. There was also a bit of rabbit hunting.
Could I explain? Yes. Will I? No.
Today, I had an airport run to pick up one of the speakers for the event that has me dead on my feet. Because almost immediately after arriving back at the office, we were headed off to set up for OMS Live. We did it early because we’re now feeling the effects of Helene - lots of wind and rain. Hopefully, the weather won’t too badly effect the event. I’ll let you know next week how things went.
I think that will do it for now. I’m gonna go try to win over a cat and then sleep until I have to roll out of bed and put on a happy face.
Bye!
