Bloginating the Countryside: The We-Wu for September 9-13, 2024

Does anyone else miss Homestar Runner? It was a great web ‘toon. I identified greatly with Strong Bad.

I was a little bit extra last week. I’m not saying the funding issue isn’t serious, but I’ve had time to breathe a bit. I’m not as frantic about it, but I have also been working on reversing the trend.

To wit, I have been researching potential grants. Most are solely for organizations, and the requirements are incredibly specific. But the sheer amount of money that people want to give out is staggering. If I was gay, Jewish, and/or had some horrific disease, I could be swimming in dough.

Alas, I am none of these, but I’ll keep looking into endowments and grant organizations. If you have any connections, give me a shout.

Another thing I have been working on this week is re-creating my prayer letter in Canva. I have used Publisher for years, and I hate change. But Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, does not include Publisher in their standard Office Suite. It is also a PC product without an Apple analog, so I’ve been using a virtual machine all this time. I think it’s time I try to make life easier for myself.

We’re in a dry spell again for T&M projects. We had a couple come in, but those are being worked on by my team. I’m still waiting on some feedback for the templates, so I can’t do much on those right now. My boss is on vacation this week, so things have been fairly low key.

Oh! I have made a couple of changes to the website, mostly on what services I offer. I will have some new business cards soon, so that will be fun. I’m a brand now! I don’t know what kind of brand, and we should all be terrified by this, but it is what it is. Feel free to take a look around. If you think I should add anything, let me know.

That’ll do it for the week. There will not be a blog next week because I am headed to Pennsylvania for a few days. I’m visiting some supporters and OMSers. Pray for safety as we drive (I’m going with three friends), good fellowship, and at least a modicum of relaxation.

Bye!
