Now I Have Two Axes: The We-Wu for January 27-31, 2025
I was hanging out with this cutie for most of the week. Emmy is an adorable girl, and still very much a puppy. It makes working remotely a bit more difficult, but a steady stream of treats is quite helpful in this venture. (I’m not going to say there weren’t a few extra naps. She’s a good snuggler.)
Lots of editing this week, since I didn’t have access to InDesign. We are now formatting the newest booklet. This is going to be a great resource, especially in Africa.
Plans continue apace for the conference in April. I have a running list of things I need to check on or test or research. When I need to get my heart rate up, I take a look at it.
I did miss most of the Board meetings this week. Not that I would have been in them anyway, but the less I’m required to act like a normal, functional adult, the better for everyone. At least they had decent weather for it this year. Last January was called off because of snow. I’m ready for some warmth again. (One nice thing about the Board being here is the free food! There are always leftovers.)
We had our second session of the workshop on Tuesday. We got more into storytelling aspect of things. This time, we focused on the first seven verses of 2 Kings 6. It’s one of the more esoteric stories in the Bible. I find myself doing a lot of research into interpretation, but there is always plenty of application.
If you haven’t already, click that link above and read the story once or twice. One thing I’m starting to do in my devos is place myself into the shoes (or sandals) of each character in the story. What is their perspective on the situation? This story is great for this activity. You have the sons of the prophets, Elisha, and the dude who lost his head. Axe head, that is.
One question that came up toward the end was “how sharp is your axe?” This brings up all kinds of discussion. What is my axe?
(Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
Would I know if my axe is sharp? Would I just keep swinging when the axe head goes missing? Am I the axe? Or the guy swinging?
There you go. Free conversation starter for your small group this week.
It is food for thought, though. It’s good to evaluate yourself and your life every so often.
That might be it for this week. I’ll try to be more interesting next week. Not that we need more going on in the world. Lord knows, there is enough of that already. I like it when I can live my boring life. But perhaps my step will have a little more pep.
Take care of some small stuff, yeah?
Bye!
